Piemonte – Valsesia. Trip was on 7- 13 of May. Water in region was very low – poor snow conditions in winter and not much sunshine at this time. For visit Upper site of ValSesia weather must be sunshine before at least week - rivers is snow melt (?) glacier feed... Upper Sesia From Boccorio to Campertogno – in beginning for warm up to Buzzo, in section 2x portages, 1x at Buzzo 1x at Mollia you recognize it when see a bridges. Down stream from Mollia is flat except in the beginning and entrance in Campertogno, all the best is in section from bridge at Buzzo to Mollia. Some sections pushy, some ugly holes, mostly boulders gadrens. Equa From bridge above Ferate to Molino (next bridge). Sweet!! Need a bit more of water. Famous Equa slides and drops! Hard creaking, technical! In high level after hard slide section probably undercut in this level no problem. Sorba From bridge at middle in Rassa till first old bridge, there is some funny drops continues as slides, famous Sorba 3x slides!!! Technical section varies with nice slant slides. Between technical sections is short whom easier. Mastalone From left trib. Sabbiola till first dam before Sacro, in section is deep narrow canyon with local rapids, inspect it from road while you drive up and look at entrance rapid. After rapids canyon is impressive with still, crystal green-green water and 20m vertical walls. Sections before and after canyon was very bony, because we finish at the first!!! Sesia gorge From Scopeta to Balmuchia, dont miss it, nice! One portage, in beginning of canyon take it by right. In canyon several rapids with clear lines. In high-level probably nasty holes, but that continues with flat sections, but in same time there isn’t so much places where park, walls directly from water. When canyon end on left is Montarosa rafting base, its better finish there, but we continue to Isola mostly flat section with rapid of Balmuchia in first part of this. |

For changes we did canyoning in Frasso creek, Drive from Compertogno in entrance in Scopello when you cross brige turn left up then after 50m right to Frasso follow signs to Frasso-Ristorane and by crazy jeep safari 20 serpentines road reach Frasso vilage at 990 m. Then walk through village in middle turn to track to Scoppello, when see a red/ white marks follow them to canyon, it is done before, there is plates for rope. 6x-7x dulfer sections, several long 20m, psychological jump over rock shelf. Posible start more up, but then take with you drill and anchors for plates, we have to portage some section, because it’s look undoable.
... and local guide say :” Don’t make trouble, don’t go canyoning!”, but some old lady in Frasso village say “Super Alpi!”
